Environment -- Bennington College






In case you're occupied with science—or governmental issues, or workmanship, or logic, or engineering, or brain science, or composing—ecological studies may be for you.

The project on the earth at Bennington, similar to all ranges of study, draws upon the College's staff to give an interdisciplinary point of view at how ecological issues affect the regular and social universes. How do morals, governmental issues, and financial matters cover with ecological issues? How do stylish and imaginative viewpoints shape our association with nature? The center natural inquiries are not just or even essentially investigative—they are social and arrangement driven and are incorporated over the whole College.

Past the classroom, the natural studies program underpins understudy research and Field Work Term temporary jobs, encourages grounds based supportability activities, and attempts to grow associations with neighborhood ecological consortia and different establishments. The grounds Sustainability Committee, which acknowledges and surveys proposition for activities like the natural Student Garden, permits understudies to handle ecological issues on a neighborhood scale.

A stipend from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in 2009 has upheld Bennington's project on the earth. The College's longstanding responsibility to supportability and protection has earned Bennington a spot in the Princeton Review's first ever Guide to 286 Green Colleges, which was accumulated and distributed in association with the U.S. Green Building Council.
